A research unit for sustainable agri-food systems

About us

MoISA is an interdisciplinary joint research unit on agri-food systems combining social sciences and public nutrition.

Our goals

Analyzing transitions in different agri-food systems around the world and proposing solutions to move towards desirable transitions, especially around the Mediterranean and in sub-Saharan Africa, South East Asia and French overseas regions.

Challenges and issues

Contributing through research to transitions towards more sustainable agri-food systems, focusing in particular on food and nutritional security for the most vulnerable populations, equity in supply chains and environmental preservation.

With its researchers in the social sciences and public health nutrition, MoISA is unique in being able to combine several narratives on the sustainability of agri-food systems by considering the interactions between supply systems, food environments, dietary behaviors, their outcomes and the factors driving change.

Expertise

  • Diagnosis of food systems and supply chains
  • Analysis of and support for producer organizations, certification and public policies in the agricultural and food sectors
  • Impact assessment of interventions aimed at agricultural and food sustainability
  • Marketing sustainable products and territories
